Exploring Obelisks, One Trip at a Time

The Obelisk Society is a group of like-minded people who enjoy tracking down ancient Egyptian obelisks, learning their stories, and occasionally building a trip around them. We’re interested in where they came from, how they were made, how they ended up where they are—and we have a good time along the way! Warning! Don't be fooled by cheap imitations, obelisks were made in ancient Egypt, obelisk shaped monuments were not.

How do I join?

What We Do

We start with obelisks, but the trips are about the whole place
Track down ancient Egyptian obelisks wherever they’ve ended up
Learn the stories behind them—how they were made, moved, and re-erected
Figure out how and why they left Egypt in the first place
See them in context, not just as objects but as part of a living city
Spend time exploring, eating and drinking well, and taking in what each place has to offer
Compare notes, photos, and what we’ve learned along the way
